National Census
Let your government know what they need to do to help you.
Every ten years, the census provides an accurate snapshot of the countrys population, informing important decisions and policies. Hammersmith and Fulham also relies on census population statistics to get the government funding it needs for public services. The census needs to include everyone, everywhere and thats why everyone across the country has to take part.
The next census is 27th March 2011
In the last Census only 74% of the population within the Borough completed a questionnaire.
Funding and planning for the area is reliant on a correct census count and so it is vital that we reach as many people within the Borough as possible. How much money the area gets is directly related to the number and characteristics of the people the census says live in the area.
So even if the census were to end up just a few households short, or miss some important sections of the community, it could make a very real difference to peoples lives.
You can help make it a success by informing your local communities in H & F.
The Office for National Statistics and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham are working together between now and March 2011 to promote the census to local people. We have leaflets that answer key concerns and posters that publicise the census in different languages. We could send them to you if you require or you could download them from the following link:
