Improve the Environment

We try to improve the general pleasant appearance and cleanliness of central Hammersmith and ensure that the area is as attractive and as free of rubbish, graffiti and fly-posting as possible. We:

• work with statutory providers to increase the level of cleansing work done locally
• manage several contracts to undertake additional cleaning and deodorising of the area
• provide recycling in order to lower businesses' overall waste output and costs
• brighten up the town centre with beautiful tree planters and flower baskets
Our projects have included:

THE ROOF GARDEN - the HammersmithLondon Roof Garden at the Lyric which recently won 1st Prize in the 2010 Landscape Institute Awards for Unusual Gardens.

FLOWER BASKETS - beautiful flower baskets around the BID area.

PLANTS - attractive tree planters and flower towers, as seen outside the L'Oreal building.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTING - Christmas tree lights, light banners, Christmas tree, Christmas snow falling lighting in Lyric Square.

ANTI LITTER CAMPAIGNS - various Town centre campaigns.

CLEANSING - additional cleansing to the area at no cost to local businesses.

TRAVEL PLANS - we encourage sustainable forms of transport, assist in implementing green travel plans and organise various travel events.

DECKCHAIRS - free deckchairs for the people at the town centre.

VACANT UNITS - we display colourful posters on various vacant units in the local malls.

LONDON IN BLOOM - we won a high Silver award in the London in Bloom Competition.

RECYCLING - free recycling service for BID businesses.
