BID Ballot
A BID can only be formed following consultation and a ballot in which businesses vote on a BID Proposal or business plan for the area.

Regulations
A Business Improvement District can only come into existence if it is approved in a ballot. For a BID to go ahead the ballot must be won on two counts: straight majority and majority of rateable value (the value of a commercial property unit). This ensures that the interests of large and small businesses are protected.
Our 2006 Ballot
In March 2006 local business in central Hammersmith voted in favour of establishing a BID.
The total number of valid votes cast in the ballot was: 175
Percentage of ratepayers voting in favour of the question: 56.6%
Percentage of aggregate rateable value voting in favour of the question: 69.7%
Percentage turnout of ratepayers: 48.7%
Percentage turnout by rateable value: 58.2%
The majority of votes cast were in favour of the BID.
The majority of aggregate rateable value was in favour of the BID.
Renewal Ballot
The next ballot will be in February 2011. HammersmithLondon will only be able to deliver its promises of a safer, cleaner, promoted and energised Town centre if you vote “Yes”. Remember, all of the BID’s services are additional and have been developed specifically in response to your comments.
